The rise of the Ferretti Yachts range is smoothly linear. It starts with the 15-metre 500, then moves up through the 550, 670, 720, 780, 850 and 920, ending with the new flagship, the Ferretti Yachts 1000. Despite the range’s nomenclature, stylistically, each flybridge yacht is different to the other.
At just over 30 metres long and 6.8 metres wide, the 1000 tops the range with an exterior design courtesy of Filippo Salvetti. The Italian designer had already radically changed the looks of the Ferretti Yachts flybridges, so the Politecnico di Milano in 2000 graduate was the ideal man for the job.
The new flagship FY 1000 is a grandiose project in every sense. The beach club is located on several levels, there’s a huge flybridge up top and there are increased volumes, thanks to a new wide-body. She’s built of fiberglass, and for the first time, carbon was used on a large scale for the superstructure.
The 40m2 stern has a fold-out table and two sofas, and a glass bulwark creates a single area with a beach club, which is multi-level. The bathing platform can be partially lowered into the water and a few steps higher are the sun loungers. The garage under the beach cub accommodates a Williams SportJet 445 tender, as well as an aqua bike, or multiple SeaBobs, which can be accessed through a separate side door.
Up top, the updated carbon-fibre hardtop can both protect guests from the sun, and vice versa – give more sunlight thanks to the translucent sections. Improved seakeeping is also an added bonus of having a lighter hardtop.
With Salvetti taking care of the exterior design, it was down to ideaeITALIA to create the 1000’s interior spaces. The shipyard offers two versions of the 1000: the Classic features a soothing, warm, elegant colourway, with the Modern opting for a bolder combination of textures, colours, and an abundance of glass.
Onboard the 1000, the concept of ergonomics is redefined. A kitchen within walking distance from the salon can be equipped with a window for dispensing delicious dishes directly to the dining table. Opposite the main salon, the ideaeITALIA team has made the most of the bulwark cutouts, emphasizing the floor-to-ceiling glazing.
In the master suite on the main deck, the TV is hidden behind a mirrored wall and the same smoky glass was used to make the bathroom doors.
Four cabins on the lower deck are the same size, but some of the beds are equipped with a sliding rail system, allowing doubles to be turned into singles.
