POLESTAR 6

Yachts heads to Jumeirah Emirates Towers for a private viewing of the 871hp Polestar 6.

It’s the first time that we’ve featured Swedish electric performance car manufacture Polestar in the magazine, but it surely won’t be the last.

Even though the forward-thinking brand was only founded in 2017 (by Volvo and Geely) it’s already produced two performance cars: the 609 hp, 1,000 Nm Polestar 1 hybrid GT and the Polestar 2 fastback featuring dual- and single-motor powertrains with as much as 476 hp and 680 Nm. The Gothenburg-headquartered manufacturer is also planning to launch a number of other high performance models over the coming years, culminating in the 2026 launch of this, the Polestar 6.

EV FOR THE UAE

The concept made its debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering/Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance last year and such was the interest, all 500 build slots were reserved within a week of the production announcement. There’s good news for us though, as a small number of pre-secured build slots within the 500 have been reserved for customers in selected Polestar markets and Al Futtaim (Polestar’s sole dealer representative in the UAE, has confirmed a limited allocation available exclusively for customers in UAE.

With Polestar 6 now included in its portfolio, Polestar plans to launch four new EVs within five years – stronger and faster than any other EV start-up on the market today.

THE NUMBERS

With the production model’s specifications still a while off, Polestar has instead given its engineers targets to hit. What we do know is that the dual motor powertrain will produce 871hp (and have a +650km range) so realistically, that would be a 250 km/h top speed and the ‘6’ should hit the 0-100km/h acceleration benchmark in 3.2 seconds. These are indeed big numbers, but what sets this Polestar apart than the other electric supercars is that it’s a roadster.

Limited edition: Polestar UAE has secured limited build slots for the upcoming Polestar 6 LA Concept edition.

ALUMINIUM INNOVATION

Mix instant torque with a lightweight build and a retractable top and you have a recipe for exhilaration. ‘Wind in your hair’ will have a different connotation with 871hp under your right foot. However, don’t be fooled by its roadster layout – the Polestar 6 is a low, wide and thick-set muscle car. In the metal, it looks similar in size to a 911 or Ferrari California, and it’s a no-nonsense design. Aesthetically and aerodynamically, the ‘6’ was influenced by aerospace design, so it’s devoid of unnecessary wings and spoilers. Instead, it features integrated aero ducts in the wheel arches and rear lights that double as air blades.

FROM THE DRVER’S SEAT

We’ve been told that the ‘6’ sounds as good as it looks, with a strong electric motor howl, but occupants can also expect a contextualised infotainment system that adapts to the driver’s movements. The interior also features woven flax composite panels, various screens and 3D knit upholstery. The Polestar 6 should come in at around the 200k-dollar mark, which puts it in the midst of some serious machinery; however, cutting edge styling, electric performance and the whole roadster experience put it in good stead against its electric and ICE peers.
