FUTURE PROOF: ADASTRA

Striking and sustainable, ADASTRA is the future of yachting

Yachts

You might be forgiven for thinking that you’d seen a spaceship when you first come face-to-face with ADASTRA. The eye-catching custom trimaran, listed for sale exclusively with Burgess, made a splash at the Cannes Yachting Festival and the Monaco Yacht Show. The superyacht is ready for a new owner and fresh adventures – and with her shallow draft, seaworthiness and economical operation, she’s ready for anything.

Delivered by McConaghy Boats in 2012, the 42.6m ADASTRA isn’t quite like other yachts. Built for an experienced, intrepid owner and designed by John Shuttleworth, she won a renowned Neptune for most innovative yacht at the World Superyacht Awards 2013. She was created for adventure and exploration and is perfectly suited to both, with a jaw dropping range of 10,000 nautical miles meaning she can cross the Atlantic not once but twice before refuelling. A draft of 1.2m (3.9ft) means no island is unexplorable.

Even more striking is ADASTRA’s silvery appearance. Constructed from three hulls made of e-glass and Kevlar foam sandwich with a deck and superstructure made from carbon fibre with a Nomex honeycomb core, she’s light as a feather, weighing just 49 tonnes before water and fuel. You’d be hard pushed to find a more efficient superyacht, which means more time for cruising and less spent returning to harbour. A top speed of 22 knots comes from a Caterpillar C18 1150hp main engine and two Yanmar 110hp outrigger engines.

A 16.2m beam ensures incredible stability and comfort at sea. The elegant light-filled interior is open plan, designed by Jepson Designs. Reminiscent of Asia meet Scandi-chic, you’ll spend most of your time marvelling at the spectacular view from the panoramic windows. Furnishings are light and relaxed, with white and blue fabric and honey-coloured oak.

Additional space has been created by flaring the central hull above the waterline, allowing nine guests to sleep comfortably in the full-beam master cabin and two doubles, tended by up to six crew members residing in forward accommodation.

In the open air, guests can choose from two stunning decks to sun themselves and wonder at their surroundings. The foredeck has a large sun deck which can be protected from the midday heat with a suspended awning. On the aft deck, enjoy al fresco dining no water the weather, thanks to the protection of a hard top bimini with a set of sliding covers. Further aft is storage for a 4.8m (15.7ft) tender, with a cleverly designed garage door that folds out to form a large diving platform. A second tender can be stored on deck.

Uniquely cutting edge, ADASTRA is an unforgettable yacht for owners looking for something that will be remembered by all. A beautiful superyacht with exceptionally low fuel consumption, you couldn’t ask for a vessel more luxurious or innovative. For sale exclusively with Burgess, the asking price of ADASTRA is USD 12,000,000.
