However, due to the adventurous nature of the design, it was put on hold. Despite this, Santella’s expertise was utilised by Sanlorenzo, and he eventually created the highly popular SX line for the Italian shipyard. The similarities between the SX and his Bluegame SUV concept were apparent, and with the help of Massimo Perotti, Sanlorenzo’s CEO, who was also a fan of innovative designs, Bluegame was eventually incorporated into the brand in 2018. The BG and BGX ranges were then developed, leading up to the release of the BG54, the third model in the lineup.
Following in the wake of the disruptive BG72, the BG54 brings Santella’s vision back to his original sport utility boat idea. What we have here is essentially a super-luxury, centre console, hence the SUB name.
Starting at the bow, guests can enjoy the wide open foredeck lounge. Thanks to a broad beam that stretches right to the forepeak, there’s plenty of space to entertain, enough even for a large sunpad (that converts to a dinette) and sofa. A reverse-raked windscreen offers diners cover, however the foredeck lounge remains an open-but-private area.
The windscreen screen itself is mounted well forward of the helm, a detail that makes the main deck feel even more spacious. To port is the ladder that leads up to the ‘sundeck’, a secret sunpad that gives elevated and unobstructed views of the sea.
Relax: The BG54’s cockpit offers stunning 360-degree views and is shielded with Stataglass for protection during bad weather.
Aft of the helm is the main deck lounge, an open area featuring a table, surrounded by sofas. Above, the hardtop shelters guests from the sun, but the open sides keep the close relation with the sea.
Much of the BG54’s entertainment takes place on the large beach club, which provides plenty of lounging space, two sunpads, and ample storage options. Adding to the beach club’s versatility is an available transformer.
“The layout of the BG54 in one word is: amazing. Redesigned in line with the up-to-date technical evolution, the BG54 model presents the stern and bow areas improved in terms of ergonomics and functionality,” commented Santella. “Thanks to the smart and flexible layout, the owner can choose between two or three cabin proposals, one of which is a full-beam master: a unique addition for boats of this range.”

The BG54 offers centre console flexibility for a day’s fishing, along with the option of spending the weekend on the water thanks to its two or three cabin layout. As a winter boat, the Bluegame offers the best of both worlds, offering useable space with cossetting luxury.
