SPECIAL OLYMPICS HONOURED BY ADNOC

ADNOC has honoured the Special Olympics’ Eternal Flame of Hope in a torch ceremony held at the Founder’s Memorial, ahead of the flame embarking on its tour of the UAE.

With sailing being a large part of the games, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Vice President of Abu Dhabi International Marina Sports Club, was at the forefront of the parade, which saw the Eternal Flame of Hope make its way from host city Abu Dhabi, to Fujairah, for the first leg of a tour that will stop at every Emirate.

“The Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 reflects the values of inclusion, coexistence, and humanity that are embedded in the very core of the UAE,” commented Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and ADNOC Group CEO.

“Hosting the games in the Year of Tolerance reinforces the UAE’s ethos of active inclusiveness and our wise leadership’s vision to build a society where people of all cultures and abilities are welcomed and celebrated.”

ADNOC is the presenting sponsor of the 2019 Special Olympics World Games, which will see more than 7,500 athletes from 192 countries head to Abu Dhabi to compete.
